"LIVING VELVET" and "PAW ROO"
has been selected for this Prestigous Art Prize for Realist Art
I am best described as a Contemporary Realist whose works capture the Spirit of Life in the Australian Bush & Outback. I was formally trained in Commercial Art & worked in Graphic design for 18 years before going Bush in 1990 (living on a property near Cooma in the Snowy Mountains of NSW). I was actually returning to my roots, as I was born and spent my early childhood in the area, and this is where I was able to pursue my love for painting and drawing. Now that I'm back in the "Big Smoke", Sydney, some of my works reflect the beauty of the local environment, but my heart still lies in the country and every year I make numerous trips there, especially to areas around Cooma on the Monaro and Outback NSW. I thrive in these vast, harsh, dry environments. I find everything about life in the outback inspirational – the landscape, the people, the animals and birds, down to everyday objects. It is my aim to spread this passion to others through my work.
